Who's Who: Bex Mather

Bex Mather, Head of Community Programme at The Sage Gateshead, includes leading on our Youth Music Action Zone, CoMusica, Building Based Classes, VotRE festival which culminated in a performance festival including 2000 Gateshead residents, and many more projects with a wide range of communities.

Passionate about: songs, journeys, harmony, collaborative performance, equity of access, cultural entitlement,

Is a practitioner: currently leading 'Mongrel UK' music theatre that bite' which is a youth ensemble of host community and young people recruited through the North of England Refugee Service. Has lead many choirs, youth projects, performance projects, as a composer, director and collaborator. Has worked in formal and informal sectors.

Is a performer: singer songwriter, street theatre, devised theatre, member of 4 piece a capella ensemble 'Mouthful', as well as commercial work currently recording and album, performed on 'Top of the Pops'

Has trained and/or worked in: Brazil, South Africa, Australia and Europe

Has a dog, lives in the country, doesn't make enough time for other hobbies!
