Who's Who: Mark Labrow

Mark moved to the North East 10 years ago to study at the University of Northumbria. Since graduating with a first class honours degree in Drama in 1998, he co-founded Theatre Cap-a –Pie, the North East’s largest non-revenue funded theatre company.
Mark is a facilitator, actor and director and over the last 14 years has built up considerable experience in each of these fields, teaching Improvisation and Devising with numerous groups across the North East including Youth Workers, Schools and Colleges and the University of Northumbria.

As an actor and director he has performed work at The Newcastle Playhouse, Live Theatre, The Bolton Octagon, Gilded Balloon (Edinburgh), The Hackney Empire and more recently The Globe in London, as well as having the privilege of touring work to Burkina Faso, West Africa. He has trained in Clowning and Improvisation with Philippe Gaulier (Ecole Gaulier, Paris), De Castro (The Why Not Institute), Guy Dartnell (Improbable Theatre), Chris Johnston (Author of ‘House of Games’and Thomas Prattki (LISPA). In addition to his work with Cap-a-Pie Mark is also co founder of The Suggestibles, the North East’s only improvisation group. He recently left Theatre Cap-a-Pie to go freelance and has created Perfectfools, a performance and facilitation company focussing on the skills of the clown and is about to embark on life as one of only eight ‘Clown Doctors’ working in hospitals across the North East.
